Fox plots on robbers and polygamists

Two new hour-long dramas in the works

Fox is prepping a new take on the British series "Daylight Robbery," and has another hourlong in the works about a polygamist.

Karyn Usher ("Bones") is onboard to adapt "Daylight Robbery," which centers on a group of four housewives who, in need of money, turn to a life of crime.

The show originally ran in the U.K. on ITV in 1999, with a sequel in 2000. Jane Hewland, who exec produced the original, is part of the adaptation team as well, as are Michael Thorn and Marty Adelstein.

Twentieth Century Fox TV produces. Usher's credits include "Prison Break."

"Daylight Robbery" has been given a script order plus penalty -- as has "Midland," from exec producer Kyle Killen, who penned the upcoming Jodie Foster-Mel Gibson feature "The Beaver."

That drama centers on a polygamist with two wives. Fox TV is the studio.

The dramas join a growing hour-long slate at Fox that includes previously confirmed titles such as "Ridealong," a character procedural from Shawn Ryan about tough cops in Chicago and Matt Nix's "Jack and Dan," about mismatched police partners.
