Savannah to open with 'Messenger'

Clarkson, Harrelson, Foster to attend fest

Patricia Clarkson, Woody Harrelson, Ben Foster and Emmy Rossum will be among the honorees at the 12th annual Savannah Film Festival, kicking off Oct. 31 with "The Messenger," starring Harrelson and Foster.

Clarkson ("Whatever Works"), Harrelson and Foster will receive Outstanding Achievement in Cinema awards, and Rossum will take home the Young Hollywood award for her perf in "Dare." Fest will also honor Jeremy Renner with the Spotlight kudo for "Hurt Locker."

In addition to the honorees' pics, films screening at the fest include "The Young Victoria," "The Men Who Stare at Goats," "Broken Embraces," "An Education" and "Precious: Based on the Novel 'Push' by Sapphire."

In addition to the special screenings, there will be 22 professional and 12 student screenings. Jurors include actresses Patti D'Arbanville, Rita Gunn and writer/directors Ingrid Rockefeller, Michael Sucsy and David Twohy.

Fest runs through Nov. 7 at the Savannah College of Art and Design.
