Showtime has given a pilot order to John Wells Prods. and Warner Bros. TV for an adaptation of the long-running British family drama "Shameless."
William H. Macy is onboard to star as the alcoholic patriarch of a large, unconventional family.
"Shameless" creator Paul Abbott, the producer behind such notable U.K. productions as "State of Play" and "Touching Evil," will work with John Wells as an exec producer on the pilot, which is set to shoot in December.
The Yank adaptation will find the show set in present-day Chicago among a blue-collar family where an 18-year-old daughter is tasked with keeping her five younger siblings in line.
