"I was watching this Bravo special on the 100 greatest horror films ever made and the one movie on the entire list that I had never heard of was a 1987 thriller called "The Stepfather,' " said Greg Mooradian, producer of the Sony release. "So I watched it and in a strange way I felt like the original was ahead of itself and now would be a better time to deliver it."
"Nip/Tuck" star Dylan Walsh took over the title role originated by "Lost" thesp Terry O'Quinn.
McCormick said his one regret during filming was not being able to bring O'Quinn in for a cameo.
"There was a perfect spot for him late in the movie," the helmer said. "But we just couldn't work out the scheduling."
