Kendrick, currently filming "The Twilight Saga: New Moon," began her career on Broadway in the musical "High Society" in 1997 and starred in Picturehouse's "Rocket Science" in 2007.
The awards gala will kick off the 21st Palm Springs fest, which runs Jan. 5-18 with more than 200 films unspooling. Past recipients of the Rising Star award include Dakota Fanning, Emile Hirsch, Terrence Howard and Scarlett Johansson.
