Markland will sign emerging and established writers for the company. He reports to Tracy Gershon, senior VP and head of A&R at Warner/Chappell Nashville.
He comes to the Music Row post after 11 years as VP at Los Angeles-based Windswept Music, where he worked with former BMI songwriter of the year winners Jeffrey Steele and "Big" Al Anderson. During his tenure at Windswept, company won more than 50 BMI and ASCAP awards for most performed songs.
Markland previously worked for publishers Patrick Joseph Music and his own Coyote Moon Music. Earlier, he worked for Warner/Chappell in L.A. as a tape-room operator and as an A&R assistant at RCA Nashville.
