"Behind the Green Room Door" will feature prominent comics who gather in front of an audience and talk about the business of being funny. Paul Provenza hosts; comics featured include Jonathan Winters, Eddie Izzard, Robert Klein and Penn Jillette.
Four rotating comics, plus Provenza, will appear every week. A combination of iconic comedians and those on the rise will participate.
Six-episode half-hours will most likely premiere in second-quarter 2010, and production is complete. Series was shot at the Vanguard nightclub in Hollywood.
"The green room is a safe space for comedy and a dangerous place for convention," Provenza said. "If you're not easily offended and can roll with whatever happens when there are no rules, then being behind that door can be the time of your life."
"Door" is exec produced by Barbara Romen and Provenza, who directed theatrical comedy docu "The Aristocrats."
Showtime also announced it will air a nonscripted series, "Fight Camp 360: Inside the Super Six Boxing Classic," which premieres Saturday. NFL Films, the longtime documentarian of pro football, is producing this series.
