Egyptian helmer Ahmed Maher opens the fest with "The Traveller," starring Omar Sharif, while Grant Heslov closes it with George Clooney starrer "The Men Who Stare at Goats." Other galas include Oren Moverman's "The Messenger," Yousry Nasrallah's "Scheherazade, Tell Me a Story," Robert Rodriguez's "Shorts" (which was co-funded by Abu Dhabi and Warner Bros.) and Michael Moore's "Capitalism: A Love Story."
SIDEBARS
Fest will include a special section looking at new Turkish cinema, including Seyfi Teoman's "Summer Book" and Semih Kaplanoglu's "Sut." There will also be a special sidebar dedicated to pics dealing with the environment, including Werner Boote's "Plastic Planet" and Robert Kenner's "Food, Inc."
WORLD CINEMA SHOWCASE
The international lineup brings together selections from the best in world cinema with regional preems for Iranian helmer Asghar Farhadi's "About Elly," Lee Daniels' "Precious: Based on the Novel 'Push' by Sapphire," Hayao Miyazaki's "Ponyo on the Cliff by the Sea" and Goran Paskaljevic's "Honeymoons."
MASTER CLASSES
Festival will also include a special section looking at the role of music in film, with master classes led by film composers as well as a special event on composing music for silent films.
