'Coco' pulled over Polanski

Director Kounen yanks pic from Zurich fest

PARIS -- Gallic helmer Jan Kounen has pulled his "Coco Chanel and Igor Stravinsky" from the Zurich Film Festival in protest against Roman Polanski's arrest on Saturday.

Vincent Maraval, topper at Paris-based sales company Wild Bunch, which represents "Coco," said, "We're disgusted by the hypocrisy of the Swiss authorities. They shelter all kinds of thieves under banking secrecy and they sell out a film master."

"Coco" was set to screen out of competition on Friday.

Maraval also said the fest should shutter to show solidarity with Polanski, who was detained at Zurich Airport on his way to the event to receive a lifetime achievement award.

Polanski is now awaiting possible extradition to the U.S. He has been a fugitive since 1978, when he fled the country after pleading guilty to sex crimes involving a 13-year-old girl.
