The film was directed by Andrew P. Jones and produced by Robert Page Jones, Reginald T. Dorsey and Andrew P. Jones for Picture Palace Films. Lynn Whitfield, Glynn Turman, Tyson Beckford, Linara Washington, James Russo, Bruce McGill and Dorsey star.

Depression-era story, set in a bleak urban town, centers on the Sunday night fashion contest among local men to win $5 and the title of "King of the Evening."

"Kings" debuted at the San Diego Black Film Festival and took awards at the Houston, San Francisco Black, and San Diego Black film festivals.
