Hairstylist Susan Carol Schwary dies

Emmy nommed for 'Deadwood,' 'Providence'

Susan Carol Schwary, who was Emmy nommed for her hairstylying work on "Deadwood," "Providence" and "Buffy the Vampire Slayer," died Sept. 10 of breast cancer in Valencia, Calif. She was 61.

Schwary worked as a hairstylist and wig designer for more than 30 years, and as an active member of Makeup Artist and Hairstylist Guild Local 706, she fought for fair wages and equal rights for members.

Among her credits were "CSI: NY," "Havana," "Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl." "Little Miss Sunshine" and "Star Trek: The Next Generation."

She is survived by her husband, producer Ronald Schary, two sons, actors Brian and Neil Schwary, her mother and a brother.
