'Slumdog' also honored by U.K. audio sector

LONDON -- "Quantum of Solace" was the big winner at the U.K. Screen Assn. sound awards, known as the Conch Awards, winning one of the two film soundtrack categories and the Foley award.

"Slumdog Millionaire" won the other film soundtrack award.

Post-production house Molinare won the film facility award and collected another Conch for its work on documentary feature "Man on Wire," while Evolutions won the TV facility category for BBC's "Top Gear."

The fellowship award went to music recordist Keith Grant for his work on such films as "The English Patient," "Shirley Valentine," "The Italian Job" and "Dangerous Liaisons."

Gaynor Davenport, U.K. Screen Assn. topper, said: "It's been a fantastic year for British audio. Tonight was about celebrating what a great sound industry we have in this country by honoring the many deserving people whose passion and abilities for audio makes this industry such a joy to be a part of."

Grant said, "I'm truly amazed and overjoyed to have been honored with the Fellowship Award. After 53 years of passion and dedication to the industry, it really is very rewarding to be singled out for recognition by the Conch Awards."
