Murphy joins Cookie Jar Ent.

Former UPN exec to become senior VP

Former UPN and Regency TV exec Maggie Murphy has joined Cookie Jar Entertainment as senior VP of development.

Murphy most recently served as president of Eastside Entertainment, Kiefer Sutherland’s production shingle.

At Cookie Jar, she’ll focus on the company’s primetime development and programming targeting tweens. She’ll report to exec VP/head of worldwide TV Tom Mazza.

Murphy’s credits include serving as senior VP of drama development at UPN, where she early on developed the Mary McCormack series “In Plain Sight” (which eventually moved to USA). She also helped develop the critical fave “Veronica Mars.”

Before that, she served as senior VP at Regency, where she developed series such as “Malcolm in the Middle,” “Roswell” and “Bernie Mac.”

Cookie Jar produces kid- and family-targeted fare based on franchises such as “Strawberry Shortcake,” “Inspector Gadget” and “Arthur.”
