NBC flies to 'Mountain'

Network picks up Canadian co-production

NBC is heading back up North, picking up "The Mountain," another Canadian co-production for the net.

The two-hour drama, which will serve as a backdoor pilot, centers on a woman who moves her family to the mountains, where she has inherited a cabin from her uncle, who is supposedly dead.

Muse Entertainment is behind the project, which is set to shoot in Montreal starting next month. Doug Barr wrote the drama and will also direct.

Barr is exec producing with Joel Rice and Jeff Grant.

Peacock earlier this summer aired Canadian co-production "The Listener," but eventually shelved the show due to low ratings.

In a move to cut costs, the nets have been picking up and airing several international co-productions over the past year; others that recently found a home on NBC included "Merlin" and "The Philanthropist."

Also on tap at NBC is Christopher McQuarrie's "Persons Unknown," from Fox TV Studios, Italy's RAI and Mexico's Televisa.
