'DevaShard' devotion

Vanquish adapts Asian myth

Vanquish Motion Pictures has secured the film rights to "DevaShard," a fantasy-based graphic novel series from Hong Kong publisher Fluid Comics.

Inspired by Asian mythology, project tells the story of two sons -- one born of darkness, the other of light -- who struggle try to find their way through a grim world of corrupt kingdoms, cursed demons and magic.

Fluid Comics' Zen, Keith Burns and Johnny Tam created the property that bowed at Comic-Con this summer.

Vanquish toppers Jay Douglas and Nav Gupta will co-write the script with Heather Kenealy from a treatment by Kevin Grevioux, co-creator of the "Underworld" franchise. He will serve as exec producer on the pic.

Grevioux, who will adapt the books for U.S. auds, recently set up his own comicbooks "I, Frankenstein" with Death Ray Films, "ZMD: Zombies of Mass Destruction" with Benderspink and "The Pale Horseman" with NEHST Studios to turn into pics. He will direct the latter.

Douglas and Gupta are producing a movie based on the vidgame "Broken Sword" with Radar Pictures.
