Cinetic launched video-on-demand label FilmBuff three months ago. In North America, FilmBuff distributes through iTunes, Hulu, Amazon VOD and Netflix streaming as well as to cable VOD households.
Cinetic said the deals will enable dozens of indie films to reach the growing on-demand audience. With limited options for specialty pics in the North American cinema market, VOD has increasingly been viewed as a shot at a wider -- or any -- audience.
"We're happy to work with these successful distributors on building their footprint in the VOD space," said CRM co-founder John Sloss. "The VOD audience increases every day, and we're in a wonderful position to help the selection of quality films increase along with it."
Titles unveiled Wednesday include Kino's Ti West thriller "Trigger Man," Palm's Olivier Assayas-directed psychological thriller "Demonlover," Cinema Guild's Margaret Brown documentary "The Order of Myths" and Virgil's teaching comedy "Chalk."
FilmBuff is Cinetic's twist on the emerging distribution platform. Pricing ranges by title and cable operator but typically falls at $2.99-$9.99 per VOD rental.
