Belinda Carlisle joins 'Hairspray'

Singer added to cast of London show

1980s popster Belinda Carlisle will join the London cast of "Hairspray" this fall, playing the scheming Velma von Tussle in the West End production.

Carlisle (the Go-Go's) steps into the cast along with Brit performers Phill Jupitus (who'll play zaftig hausfrau Edna) and Sharon D Clarke (as Motormouth Mabel).

"Hairspray" opened in London in October 2007 and is selling tickets through April.
