New West has acquired Combustion's publishing catalog, and the partnership will be housed in offices in BevHills and Music City.
Headed by prexy Chris Farren, Combustion has been on hot streak, thanks to writers Ashley Gorely, Gordie Sampson, Blair Daly, and Kings of Leon's Nathan and Caleb Follwill. The firm's recent pop and country chart-toppers include King of Leon's "Sex On Fire" and "Use Somebody," Carrie Underwood's "Just a Dream," Brad Paisley's "Then," and Trace Adkins' "Your Gonna Miss This."
Topped by label and pub prexy Cameron Strang, New West and its urban affiliate Southside Independent Music Publishing have accounted for such hits as Leona Lewis' "Better in Time," Flo Rida's "Right Round," Rihanna's "S.O.S.," Sean Kingston's "Beautiful Girls" and "Take You There." Southside scribe J.R. Rotem was BMI's 2008 urban songwriter of the year. New West will act as worldwide administrator for the new venture.
New West's label roster includes Kris Kristofferson, Steve Earle, Dwight Yoakam, John Hiatt and Drive-By Truckers.
