NBC to get more 'colorful'

Network takes on retro slogan

NBC's about to get a little "more colorful."

That's the slogan the Peacock plans to roll out next month as part of its fall marketing campaign.

"More colorful" is meant to reference both NBC's Peacock heritage and the net's famous '60s-era bumpers, which promised "the following program is brought to you in living color on NBC."

"Sometimes the most powerful ideas are the ones staring at you in the face," says NBC Entertainment marketing prexy Adam Stotsky. "The Peacock is 53 years old, but has incredible brand equity. "

Stotsky says he believes the tagline "more colorful" signifies "innovative programming," and "color is what we strive to do in our programming."

The tagline will appear as text in NBC promos, but the net has decided to take a subtle approach, and won't have announcers actually say it out loud.

"More colorful" will start popping up on Sept. 14, when "The Jay Leno Show" bows.
