Justice Dept. to dish out anti-piracy grants

$1.9 million will be sent to law enforcement agencies

The first step in strengthening the recent IP legislation has been taken as the Department of Justice announced more than $1.9 million in grants will be sent to law enforcement agencies around the country to help battle piracy.

The act was signed off on last October and is meant to help strengthen the efforts to investigate and prevent intellectual property infringement from occurring.

Among the grants sent out, $450,000 was sent to both the National Assn. of Attorneys General and the National White Collar Crime Center.
