New episodes will begin taping in November for a January season premiere, with Melissa Peterman returning as host. "Bee" is CMT's top-rated series of 2009, with its Aug. 15 season finale garnering 848,000 viewers. The season averaged 664,000 total viewers per episode in its first season on CMT.
Co-creators Phil Gurin and Bob Horowitz exec produce "Bee" with CMT's Claire McCabe, John Hamlin and Bob Kusbit.
The sing-along competition show launched in the U.S. on NBC in July 2007 with Joey Fatone as host and a pop-oriented format. It did not make it to a second season on the Peacock. CMT picked up the series in April, gave it a country spin and premiered it in June.
The format has aired in more than 40 countries.
