Taper officials also said the season will include the world preem of a musical featuring the work of "one of America's greatest living singer-songwriters." Details on the tuner are to be announced in the near future.
Mamet's "Speed-the-Plow," directed by Neil Pepe will kick off the Taper's season on Feb. 10. Other plays on the slate are Joseph's "Bengal Tiger at the Baghdad Zoo," helmed by Moises Kaufman; Wilson Milam-directed "The Lieutenant of Inishmore," from McDonagh; the Long Wharf Theater's production of "The Glass Menagerie," helmed by Gordon Edelstein and featuring Judith Ivey; and "Alfred Hitchcock's The 39 Steps."
"This new season at the Taper is particularly rich with compelling, complex, memorable characters," said Center Theater Group a.d. Michael Ritchie. "I can't wait to watch these characters spring to life in the hands of some of the best actors and directors in theater today."
The tuner will close out the Taper's season Dec. 19, 2010.
