CBS Films sets director for Fogelman-scripted comedy

The comedy -- which CBS originally acquired as a $1 million pitch -- centers on four semi-retired baby boomers who head to Las Vegas when the last of the Coney Island buddies, a successful lawyer in his 60s, decides to tie the knot.
The job is a demographic about-face for Chelsom, who last helmed "Hannah Montana: The Movie," a film which grossed $150 million worldwide for Disney. Before that, Chelsom directed "Shall We Dance," "Hear My Song" and "Town and Country."
"I don't think I fit a category in terms of the movies I direct, but this was a great script by Dan Fogelman," Chelsom said. "These are four guys from Coney Island, who, when we meet them, think they are invincible. I think the film should attract four great stars in that age range."
Chelsom, who just signed with Principato-Young, is repped by WME.
While there might be comparisons made between "Vegas" and "The Hangover," Chelsom said the Todd Phillips comedy helps his film, in terms of opening the door for another Vegas-set bachelor-party comedy.
The pic, the third material buy by CBS Films, becomes the division's fourth picture to go into production, after the Jennifer Lopez starrer "The Backup Plan," the Harrison Ford-Brendan Fraser starrer known as "The Untitled Crowley Project," and the Vanessa Hudgens starrer "Beastly."
