USA renews 'Burn Notice,' 'Royal Pains'

Freshman skein "Royal Pains," about a doctor (Mark Feuerstein) treating patrons in the haughty Hamptons, debuted June 4 to healthy numbers and is cable's No. 1 scripted show this year. Series averages 5.9 million viewers and 2.4 million viewers in the ad-attractive 18-49 demo.
"Burn Notice," starring Jeffrey Donovan, continues to do well for the cabler as well and will begin its fourth season in 2010. The July 23 episode drew a series high 6.8 million viewers.
USA has ordered 16 episodes of each show, upping the initial 12-episode first-season order for "Royal Pains." Network did the same for "Burn Notice" after its first season.
Cabler split up the second season of "Burn Notice" -- the first nine episodes in summer and the remaining seven the following winter and has followed that strategy since. It hasn't been determined if "Royal Pains" will copy that same format.
"Royal Pains" is the first original series from Universal Cable Prods. and is exec produced by Michael Rauch, Rich Frank, Paul Frank and Jace Alexander.
Matt Nix, Mikkel Bondesen and Jeff Freilich are exec producers on "Burn Notice," which is produced by Fox Television Studios.
