TLC is whipping up a second season of “Cake Boss.”

“Cake Boss” follows the antics inside a Hoboken, N.J. Italian bakery run by Buddy Valastro. Second season is expected to launch this fall; production has already begun on the new crop of shows.

High Noon Entertainment is behind “Cake Boss”; Jim Berger exec produces.

“‘Cake Boss’ has been a sweet success for TLC,” said TLC president/GM Eileen O’Neill.

“Cake Boss” first launched on May 25, and has averaged 2.3 million viewers since its launch. Show has been helped by its lead-in, “Jon & Kate Plus 8,” particularly given the media frenzy surrounding episodes of that show earlier this summer.

As a result, “Cake Boss” became the top-rated food show on cable by the end of July.

“Cake Boss” winds up its first season on Aug. 17. TLC will launch another cake-themed series, the competition “Ultimate Cake Off,” in the Mondays at 10 p.m. slot starting Aug. 31.

In other cable pickup news, Syfy confirmed that it has picked up “Eureka” for a fourth season. News was first announced at Comic-Con.
