TCA's best panels

'Curb,' Robin Williams special lead the event lineup

While TCA members can't attend every panel and keep their sanity, these shouldn't be missed:

  • "Lopez Tonight," TBS, July 28, 2 p.m.

Jumping into latenight waters, George Lopez will offer an assessment of the daypart, how he fits in and whether there's room for even more talkers to succeed.

  • "Head Games," Science Channel, July 30, 12:30 p.m.

Gameshow exec producer Whoopi Goldberg has never been known to mince words when it comes to politics or pop culture, and that should keep TCA reporters listening intently.

  • "Curb Your Enthusiasm," HBO, July 30, 3-6 p.m.

Whenever Larry David makes an appearance to discuss his show, one never knows who'll show up: The polite and articulate real-life David or his "Curb" persona, who struggles with personal boundaries.

n "Robin Williams: Weapons of Self Destruction," HBO, July 30, 3-6 p.m.

With Williams' manic personality, he might go off on a 20-minute rant on something completely unrelated and not even mention his standup special.

  • Craig Ferguson, CBS, Aug. 3, 10 a.m.-noon

It might be a bit too early in the morning for Ferguson to order pizza for crix, as he has in the past, but hearing his insights on the TV biz makes it worthwhile -- even on an empty stomach.

  • "The Jay Leno Show," NBC, Aug. 5, 5 p.m.

Leno will explain how his upcoming buzzed-about primetime program will be different than "The Tonight Show," and whether NBC made the right move in replacing him with Conan.

  • "FX Showrunners Panel," FX, Aug. 7, 11:15 a.m.

Shawn Ryan, Peter Tolan, Todd A. Kessler and Kurt Sutter discuss why we might be in a golden age of cable dramas.

Note: Times are approximate.
