Distrib gets in 'Trouble'

Screen Media acquires domestic rights to 'Women'

Screen Media Films has acquired domestic distribution rights to "Women in Trouble" and has set a Nov. 13 release date for the Sebastian Gutierrez-directed comedy that stars Carla Gugino, Josh Brolin, Emmanuelle Chriqui, Connie Britton, Simon Baker and Joseph Gordon-Levitt.

The film, which made its debut at the South by Southwest Film Festival in March, follows one day in the lives of 10 characters. The common thread is that each is in trouble, like Elektra Luxx (Gugino), a famous porn star who discovers she's pregnant. Gutierrez wrote the script and produced the film.

Screen Media recently acquired the Rebecca Miller-directed "The Private Lives of Pippa Lee."

Screen Media Films president Robert Baruc made the “Women” deal with CAA.
