New VH1 program gets 'Loud'

Live concert series to air on 'Fridays'

Def Leppard

Def Leppard will kick off the 'Live and Loud' series.

VH1 is set to launch four episodes of "Live and Loud Fridays," a series that captures performances from rock bands in concert around the country.

Partnering with concert promoter Live Nation, "Live and Loud" begins this week with Def Leppard and Poison. Upcoming groups include Nickelback (July 24), the Fray (July 31) and Creed (Aug. 7).

Besides presenting live footage of three songs from the concerts, the show will offer backstage coverage and pre-recorded interviews with the band.

Michele Merkin, host of ABC's former reality skein "The Next Best Thing," will chat with the musicians.

"Live and Loud" is produced by Michael Dempsey, Lee Rolontz and Rick Krim.
