Teamed with Revere, vocalisit Mark Lindsay, bassist Phil Volk and drummer Mike Smith, the Raiders became the first rock group to sign with Columbia Records, earning 23 consecutive hit singles from 1962-74 and seven gold albums.
After joining the group at 16 in 1963, Levin and the band recorded such pop fare as "Just Like Me" and "Kicks."
Yet it wasn't until they made regular appearances on Dick Clark's "Where the Action Is" that they became a national sensation.
In 1966, Levin left the Raiders to join the National Guard. Later he partnered with Volk and Smith to form the band, Brotherhood, recording three critically acclaimed albums for RCA.
Levin last appeared with the Raiders at a reunion concert in Portland, Ore., in 1997.
He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Sandra, and two sons.
