Japhet, who had been prexy of development and production at James Stern's Endgame Entertainment, will oversee acquisitions, development and production and report directly to Hurd.
She exec produced "I'm Not There," "The Italian Job" and the upcoming "An Education." Japhet was previously senior VP at Paramount, and she ran production and development for De Line Pictures.
Valhalla has also hired Anne Teixeira, who was previously at Endgame, as a creative exec. The banner's recent features include "The Incredible Hulk" and "Punisher: War Zone."
