The fund will cover all aspects of filmmaking from development to marketing and distribution. The first phase of the fund is for writers.
According to the IFFLA, complete rules will be issued in August. The winning script will draw $10,000 in January. Entries will be accepted from Sept. 1 to Nov. 2.
"A lot of festivals had a hard time. They cut down on days or films, but for us, this was our best year," fest director Christina Marouda said. "There was so much interest in India (and) the success of 'Slumdog Millionaire,' we were just able to put it all together and launch the fund."
