BRUSSELS — "Full Monty" producer Uberto Pasolini took top honors at the Brussels Film Festival Sunday for his directing debut "Machan."
His tale of a group of hard-up Sri Lankan men who pose as the national hand-ball team in order to get into Germany also secured a broadcast prize from pubcaster RTBF.
Jury headed by German helmer Hannes Stohr gave its special prize to "La Casa Sulle Nuvole," a road movie by Claudio Giovannes with little previous festival history.
Hilda Peter of "Katalin Varga" shared acting kudos with Malin Crepin of Swedish pic "In Your Veins," directed by Beata Gardeler.
Public prize went to Lukas Moodysson's "Mammoth," screening out of competition.
