New post adds Spain, Portugal and Scandinavia to the regions O'Dell oversees, Latin America and the Caribbean, where he recently oversaw the studio's release of "Angels and Demons" and "Terminator Salvation."
He continues to report to Mark Zucker, SPRI prexy of distribution.
"Steven's direct experience in managing territories provided him the tools to be an excellent distribution executive," Zucker said.
O'Dell joined Sony Pictures as VP in 2005.
