Play, previously announced for a run on one of MTC's Off Broadway spaces, will now open in January at the Samuel J. Friedman Theater on the Rialto.
The last Main Stem stint for Linney ("John Adams," "The Savages") was the Roundabout Theater Company's 2008 revival of "Les Liaisons Dangereuses." She has previously appeared in MTC productions of the Margulies play "Sight Unseen," once Off Broadway (in 1992) and once on the Main Stem (in 2004).
Daniel Sullivan ("Proof"), who directed Linney in "Sight Unseen," helms "Time," about a journalist and a photographer (Linney) who return from covering wars abroad to a conventional life in New York. Play preemed earlier this year at L.A.'s Geffen Playhouse, where the show starred Alicia Silverstone.
"Time" now joins an MTC Broadway sked that also includes a revival of "The Royal Family," bowing this fall, and a spring production of Margulies' "Collected Stories."
One more offering has yet to be named for the org's Off Broadway slate, which already includes "Nightingale," with Lynn Redgrave, and "That Face."
"Time Stands Still" begins previews at the Friedman Jan. 5 ahead of a Jan. 28 opening.
