Moscow studios given the go-ahead

Nevsky, Izotov team on Movie Town complex

MOSCOW — Russian authorities have approved plans to build a $40 million film studio complex south of Moscow.

The Movie Town studios — a joint project between Russian action star Alexander Nevsky and producer Alexander Izotov — will be a 65,616 sq. ft. studio and office complex.

Izotov's Czar Pictures will be housed at the complex in Dzerzhinsk, where construction work is due to start in November.

The studios will house eight sound stages, office space for other production companies and an international film school.

"This is the culmination of a lifelong dream to create a Russian-based film studio of this scale," said Nevsky, who has starred in "Moscow Heat" and "Treasure Raiders."

Nevsky's new thriller "Magic Man" is in post-production and he plans to shoot his next project "Hercules: The Beginning" on the stages of Movie Town studios next year.
