A free preview version of the app, which plays like a videogame in which users command 18-wheelers across icy Arctic roads, has already drawn nearly 700,000 downloads. The official version will charge users $3.99 for the chance at more options.
Airing Sundays at 9 p.m., "Ice Road Truckers" premiered its third season May 31 to 3 million total viewers, including 1.7 million adults 18-49. The program airs and has been licensed to numerous worldwide outlets, explaining why approximately half of the free preview downloads were initiated outside the U.S.
