Ron Taylor has been tapped VP of diverse programming and content for Fox. He will be charged with identifying and developing scripts with diversity themes or written by scribes with diverse backgrounds. He'll also advise Fox scripted projects on how to expand a diversity presence to those comedies and dramas.
Taylor reports to Fox programming exec VP Matt Cherniss, who will announce the appointment on Monday.
"Ron has been a key partner to our programming team for many years and possesses a unique eye for strong, diverse writing and directing talent," Cherniss said. "By integrating diversity efforts more directly into our development process, Fox can deliver even more relatable, relevant shows to our viewers."
Taylor previously served as VP of diversity development for Fox Entertainment, helping to adding more diverse voices both on- and offscreen.
But the job now brings Taylor inside Fox's program development team and is "part of a companywide effort to embed diversity expertise more deeply across (the network's) creative teams."
Taylor was one of the original creative execs at UPN; his credits also include serving as a development current programming exec at Columbia TriStar TV. He's also spent time at Warner Bros., Disney and ABC.
As a writer, Taylor worked on shows including "The Sentinel," "Renegade" and "Forever Knight."
