Audiences say 'yes' to 'The Proposal'

Sony's Jack Black-Michael Cera comedy and Warner Bros. holdover "The Hangover" ended in a photo finish for No. 2.
"Year One," directed by Harold Ramis, grossed $8.5 million as it unspooled in 3,022 theaters.
Entering its third weekend, "Hangover" dipped 18% from the previous Friday to $8.5 million. The summer's sleeper hit, "Hangover's" cume through Friday was $135.4 million. Pic was co-produced and co-financed by Legendary Pictures.
Also a summer hit, Disney-Pixar's 3-D toon "Up" placed No. 4 for the day, declining 39% to an estimated $6.1 million from 3,832 theaters for a cume of $208.9 million. Film is only the second 2009 title to jump the $200 million mark domestically after Paramount's "Star Trek" ($234.7 million).
Sony holdover "Pelham 1 2 3" placed No. 5 on Friday as it headed into its second weekend. For the day, the Denzel Washington-John Travolata declined 60% to an estimated $3.2 million from 3,077 runs for a cume of $35.2 million.
