Contributing to the Rialto's heightened cume was last-minute biz at four productions that shuttered June 14. "Exit the King," "Joe Turner's Come and Gone," "Guys and Dolls," and "Reasons to Be Pretty" all saw upticks.
Overall Broadway sales rose $2.4 million to about $22.1 million for 32 shows on the boards, up nearly 12%. The prior year's post-Tony tally climbed 8% to $20.5 million, with this year's attendance of 271,068 for the week slightly below the 275,000 logged in 2008.
The 18 musicals grossed $17,078,543 for 77.1% of the Broadway total, with an attendance of 193,088 at 91.9% capacity and average paid admission of $88.45.
The 13 plays grossed $5,082,447 for 22.9% of the Broadway total, with an attendance of 77,980 at 78.9% capacity and average paid admission of $65.18.
Average paid admission was $81.75 for all shows.
