Ghent film fest shows Asia bent

Films by Wang Quan'an, Yu Nan to screen

The 36th Ghent Film Festival has chosen Asia as its theme, marking the first time a continent has been chosen for the program focus.

As part of the Asian flair, four films from guest filmmaker Wang Quan'an and actress Yu Nan will screen, as well as an interactive exhibit of Japanese anime art and film.

Japanese composer Shigeru Umebayashi will present a live concert during the event, tying the fest's slant on film music into the special theme.

Fest runs Oct. 6-17 in Ghent, Belgium, closing with the ninth World Soundtrack Awards.
