'Irena's Vow' to close on June 28

Since it began perfs March 10, show has struggled to attract theatergoers in an unusually crowded slate of non-musicals. Production also failed to score any potentially profile-boosting Tony noms.
Weekly sales for "Irena" only rarely surpassed $200,000, with the show's cume totaling about $2.5 million so far. Last week the production logged receipts of $196,234, playing to crowds that averaged 63% of capacity.
Penned by Dan Gordon, "Irena" follows the true story of a Polish Catholic (played by Tovah Feldshuh) who saved a dozen Jews when she worked as a housekeeper for a German officer during WWII. Helmed by Michael Parva, the show originated in a popular Off Broadway run last year.
Capitalized at around $2.5 million, "Irena" is produced by Stan Raiff, Daryl Roth, Debra Black, James L. Nederlander/Terry Allan Kramer and Peter Fine.
