WCF secure cash from foundation

Upcoming project have international focus

By ED MEZA

The Berlin Film Festival’s World Cinema Fund has secured financing through 2011 from the German Federal Cultural Foundation, which is overseen by the government’s culture ministry.

The WCF has an annual budget of e500,000 ($694,000) for production and distribution support. Launched in 2004, it has backed 56 films including this year’s Berlinale winner, Peruvian drama “Milk of Sorrow.” Projects from the fund’s focus regions, Africa, Latin America, the Middle East, Central and Southeast Asia and the Caucasus, can apply for coin as long as they have a German co-producer.
