Brennan will have the title president and general manager. England will become a part-time adviser to the visual effects giant, focusing on general business and production strategies.
Brennan has been at ILM for 10 years. She previously had worked at Alias Wavefront and Avid. She began her career with Parallax Software, where she was an original member.
Move culminates a succession plan that Lucasfilm and ILM have been working on for more than two years. England and Brennan will work side by side during the transitional period.
Also promoted, effective immediately, are Gretchen Libby, who becomes executive in charge of marketing and global production, and Janet Lewin, now executive in charge of production operations.
Under England’s leadership, ILM ended a long Oscar drought and re-established its technical and creative leadership in vfx. Company also moved from an industrial area in San Rafael to posh new digs in San Francisco’s Presidio.
ILM did major work on several of this year’s tentpoles: “Star Trek,” “Terminator Salvation,” “Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen” and “Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince.”
