AFI honors Clint Eastwood

Actor feted with an honorary degree

The American Film Institute feted Clint Eastwood with an honorary degree during Wednesday's AFI commencement ceremonies for its graduating class.

The degree was presented to the actor-helmer on AFI's campus, and Eastwood took the time to joke about how long it took him to get a degree.

"I never went to a film school because they didn't have them when I started out. But after doing more than 50 films as an actor and 30 as a director, I would have thought I could have graduated before this," he said.

Previous recipients of AFI honorary degrees include Robert Altman, Roger Corman and Norman Jewison.
