Like "Reasons to Be Pretty," the play nominee that also just announced a Sunday end date, "Guys" was nominated for Tonys but did not win any.
The tuner opened March 1 to largely unenthusiastic reviews from New York press and never picked up significant steam at the box office. Over the past several frames, weekly sales have hovered in the $400,000-$500,000 range, with the tuner earning about $420,000 and playing to crowds at about 60% of capacity last week.
The musical's cumulative receipts tally about $9.6 million so far.
Des McAnuff helms the revival of the 1950 tuner, which stars Oliver Platt, Lauren Graham, Craig Bierko and Kate Jennings Grant. Howard Panter produces for Ambassador Theater Group, along with Tulchin/Bartner/Jenkins, Bill Kenwright, Northwater Entertainment, Darren Bagert and Tom Gregory.
Producers said they planned to launch a national touring version of "Guys and Dolls" during the 2010-2011 season.
