Hayes will join the firm's expanding entertainment practice, one that includes David Letterman's Worldwide Pants, Paramount Pictures, HBO and Media Rights Capital.
He reports to exec veep Susie Arons.
"Dade is a seasoned journalist with great insight into media and pop culture that should prove invaluable," said firm president Steven Rubenstein.Hayes spent the last 16 years in journalism, including eight at Variety, as reporter, editor and most recently New York bureau chief. He also worked at Entertainment Weekly and the Los Angeles Times and co-authored "Open Wide: How Hollywood Box Office Became a National Obsession," published in 2004 by Miramax Books. Hayes most recently wrote "Anytime Playdate: Inside the Preschool Entertainment Boom, or, How Television Became My Baby's Best Friend."
