'Diamond' sparkes for Zoë Green

Stephenson adaptation to run on Sci Fi

Scribe Zoë Green has been tapped to pen "The Diamond Age" for the Sci Fi channel and producer George Clooney.

Project is being developed as a longform for the cabler, and is based on Neal Stephenson's novel "The Diamond Age: Or a Young Lady's Illustrated Primer."

Clooney and Grant Heslov will produce for their Smokehouse Pictures shingle.

"Diamond Age" revolves around a futuristic society in which one man believes creativity has been stifled. He creates an interactive book for his daughter, who uses it as a guide through a surreal alternate world.

The novel was first published in 1995 and won the Hugo Award for novel in 1996.

Green's other credits include the screenplay "Tigress," for Walt Disney Pictures via Stan Lee and Pow Entertainment. She also wrote "Book of Shadows" for Castle Rock Ent. and Rob Reiner.
