A&E CEO to run new cable venture

Abbe Raven will oversee global media entity

A&E Television Networks prexy-CEO Abbe Raven has been named to head the new company being formed by Disney, Hearst Corp. and NBC Universal to house their jointly owned cablers Lifetime, A&E and History, according to several sources close to talks.

The new entity merges the various assets of AETN and Lifetime and creates a powerhouse cable company with 10 channels in 145 countries, three of the top 12 cable brands and 15 websites (Daily Variety, June 4).

Lifetime prexy-chief exec Andrea Wong will report to Raven, staffers heard on Thursday. The management structure for other positions such as sales and marketing are still being determined.
