Lathan (“A Raisin in the Sun”) will play central character Maggie the Cat in the Tennessee Williams drama, joining James Earl Jones and Phylicia Rashad -- who both appeared in the 2008 Broadway incarnation -- and latest addition Adrian Lester. (Role of Maggie was played by Anika Noni Rose on the Rialto in 2008.)
Produced by Stephen Byrd and Alia Jones, “Cat” begins performances at the Novello Theater Nov. 21 ahead of a Dec. 1 opening. Debbie Allen reprises her directing duties on the show, skedded to play through April 10.
