Move comes a month after the famed music producer was convicted for the 2003 death of the thesp.
Spector’s attorneys maintain evidence in the case didn’t establish Spector’s guilt beyond a reasonable doubt and will appeal the conviction.
A Los Angeles judge sentenced 69-year-old Spector to 15 years to life for the murder and four additional years for personal use of a gun. The judge is also ordering restitution payments.
Clarkson was found shot to death at Spector’s Alhambra home after the two met at the House of Blues.
The defense claimed the death was a suicide, but prosecutors argued the music producer had a history of threatening women with guns when they tried to leave his presence.
Sentencing of the producer -- behind the Righteous Brothers’ “You’ve Lost That Lovin’ Feelin’ ” and the Ronettes’ “Be My Baby” -- gives prosecutors a win they’ve long been seeking after failing to secure convictions in the high-profile murder trials of O.J. Simpson and Robert Blake.
But it took two trials to land Spector prison time. A first trial ended with a deadlocked jury in 2007; the second took six months.
